“Default” question types explained:
To access the default question types and add a new question, click on the “+” in the top left and select a question type. Select the question type you want to use and Survey Builder will automatically create a new container with your chosen question type inside it. (There is also "Section" which is not pictured).

Within the “Default” questions menu, there are the following options:
Question | Definition |
Single | Asks the respondent to pick one option from a list. |
Multiple | Asks the respondent to pick multiple options from a list. |
Single Grid | Asks the respondent to pick one option per column in a grid. |
Multiple Grid | Asks the respondent to pick multiple options per column in a grid. |
Open End | Asks the respondent to reply with a text-based answer. |
Numeric | Asks the respondent to reply with a whole number or decimal answer. |
Duration | Asks the respondent to reply with a duration (e.g. hours and minutes). |
Information | Displays instructions, a definition, or other information for the respondent before they move onto the next question. |
Go To | Skip to a specific question or question and answer choice. |
Quota | Set-up the quota or number of respondent you want to capture by type (e.g. number of respondents you want for a certain age range or gender) |
Quota Stop | Stops the interview when the defined quotas are full. |

Default Question Type Examples:
Single: Asks the respondent to pick one option from a list.

Multiple: Asks the respondent to pick multiple options from a list.

Single Grid: Asks the respondent to pick one option per column in a grid.

Multiple Grid: Asks the respondent to pick multiple options per column in a grid.

Open End: Asks the respondent to reply with a text-based answer

Numeric: Asks the respondent to reply with a whole number or decimal answer.

Duration: Asks the respondent to reply with a duration (e.g. hours and minutes).

Information: Displays instructions, a definition, or other information for the respondent before they move onto the next question.

Go to: Skip to a specific question or question and answer choice. In this example, if the respondent selects only code 1 at the question CLmulti, they will skip over QColour to Duration_LtoE. If the respondent picks any of codes 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 at CLmulti they will still see QColour.

Quota: Set-up the quota or number of respondent you want to capture by type (e.g. number of respondents you want for a certain age range or gender). In this example, there is a quota set of n=100 per “favourite colour”:

Quota Stop: Stops the interview when the defined quotas are full. In the example below, there is a Quota stop for when the blue quota reaches the target on n=100 respondents.
