Auto/Manual Run Toggle

By default, A&R automatically updates when you take any action in it (e.g. dragging and dropping variables into the row and column sections creates a table). This works well for small-medium sized datasets, but for large datasets where each action takes longer to process, users have the option of delaying the analysis that A&R runs via the toggle at the top.

If user toggles “off” “Auto update”, they will see a “Run” button appear and they can run their analysis all at once after a number of actions rather than waiting for A&R Cross Table to catch-up after each step.

NB:

When “Auto update” is disabled, clicking “Run” will only display the data/changes for the selected row variable. When switching between tables in this mode, users must click “Run” each time to see the data in the display window. Alternatively, users can export all data/changes into Excel to view everything at once.

The reason for this is that Auto update processes and displays the data automatically for each row variable when the user clicks on it. It is not pre-populated for each variable, rather it populates when a variable is selected and unpopulates in the display when the user moves to the next variable. As this only impacts the actual display window in A&R's Cross Table, when using a larger dataset, it may be easier to export the data into Excel and click between tables in Excel.
