Analyze Two Target Groups With Dig

By default, Dig will run an analysis between the target group and the total respondents in the survey. However it is also possible to use Dig to find interesting differences between two target groups.

Let's try to see if there are any interesting differences between All Males vs. Males aged 15-39 in our sample.

 1. Open Dig and specify a target group as normal. In our example, the target group will be Males aged 15-39.

2. Open Options

3. Select Extended Options. We will create a Universe using the filter builder. This defines the new total number of respondents.

  • In our example we will define the Universe as all Males.
  • Remember that the Dig target group must be a subset of the Universe target definition. In our example, Males aged 15-39 are a subset of all Males in the sample.

4. Under Universe, click the ellipsis (...) next to the filter definition text box.

  • If you understand scripting in the Walr Platform you can enter the filter definition directly into the text box.

5. Define the Universe as you would any other Filter by following the steps in the wizard. Once the Universe is defined click Save

6. The defined Universe is shown in the Universe text field. Click Set options.

The analysis will now show the differences between the (a) Males aged 15-39 and (2) all Males in the survey. which may give you some ideas about what to look for in your data.
