Importing Data - Automatic mode

Some data file formats such as SPSS (.sav) and Excel (.xls) cannot store multiple choice responses in the same variable/column. Instead, separate individual variables are created for each response.

.

When you import a data set to Walr Platform you are able to choose whether or not to automatically convert multiple choice and grid questions into their correct format.

.

The import process can automatically join the responses back into a multiple choice question.

.

Grid questions in all import formats are also automatically detected if they share the same categories.

For information about manual imports see our other document:

Automatic Import

.

1. In your project folder click on the Import button.

.

2. The Import Wizard is opened. In our example we will choose to import an SPSS file.

Automatic mode is used by default. Just leave the Advanced import drop down unselected and click on Import
