Pinboard – Getting Started

Overview

Pinboard is a dashboard tool that allows users to add analysis elements (toplines, cross tabs, charts, dig analysis, summary tables), text, and images to help illustrate key points. It works in conjunction with Analysis & Reporting to bring data to life.

It offers the ability to have:

  • Information at a glance
  • A quick way to distribute key story lines from the data
  • Multiple pages to display key information
  • Multiple ways to display information
  • A PowerPoint replacement or a powerful tool to use in conjunction with PowerPoint
  • A means of quickly distributing the latest insights from a tracking study (for example)

Accessing Pinboard

Success with Pinboard starts with Analysis & Reporting. The first step is getting all of the charts and tables you need lined up in A&R and saved in an analysis session. If you need help with A&R see Knowledge Base or contact support.

Once you are happy with your tables and charts, you’re ready for Pinboard.

To access Pinboard, in your project folder, click on “Add” and then select “Pinboard.” Give it a name and, if you want to, add a description and tags.

When you’ve set-up Pinboard and opened it, it will display an empty board like this.

Pinboard – Tips & Tricks

  • Take it step-by-step with A&R, create the charts you need for a page, save the session, set them up in Pinboard and when you’re happy with them, repeat this process for your next page if necessary.
  • It may be easiest to adjust the scale value in Chart > Options > Extended Chart Options > Max Scale Value to save space and formatting in Pinboard.
  • It is sometimes easier to use the side adjustment bars rather than the blue arrow in the bottom right corner to resize charts.
  • If you want to move a number of charts around on a page, zoom out on your browser and drag and drop them.
